Biographie

 
Mastodon ist eine im Jahr 2000 gegründete US-amerikanische Metalband aus Atlanta (Georgia), die verschiedene Musikstile von Progressive Metal über Sludge und Math- bis Hardcore in sich vereint. Typisch für Mastodon sind lange Instrumentalteile, anspruchsvolle Rhythmusvariationen und als komplex geltende, schwere Gitarrenriffs. Mastodon stehen bei Reprise Records unter Vertrag und haben bislang vier Studioalben und eine DVD veröffentlicht. Im Jahre 2007 wurden sie für einen Grammy in der Kategorie „Best Metal Performance“ nominiert.
